I'M UNSURE WHICH COLOR I MATCH TO - WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Please set up a meeting with our expert stylists for a color match! Or you can purchase our color ring below.
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER THE COST OF MY WIGS?
Sure, some insurance companies cover part of or the full cost of a wig but this completely depends on your insurance provider and your policy. You should speak to them and find out whether you’re covered for "cranial prosthesis" - that’s the medical term for a custom-made wig made for people after hair loss. They’ll be able to tell you what level of coverage you have, if any. It also helps to have a prescription from your doctor with "cranial prosthesis” or “medical hair prosthesis” included in your claim, along with the ICD-9 code (this tells insurers the type of diagnosis for a medical prosthesis).
We don’t accept payments from insurance companies, but you can use the receipt from your purchase to claim it back. Just be sure to let us know that you’re submitting it to your insurance company.
IS ONE WIG OR TOPPER ENOUGH?
Having two wigs or toppers in the same style, color and length can make life a lot easier for daily wearers. It means you can switch them up, keep them fresh and have one styled and ready to swish while the other one’s being washed and air-dried.
What’s more, it’ll help your wig last longer. You’ll always have a back up if disaster strikes and one goes missing, has a bad hair day or a coloring mishap (trust us, we’ve heard our fair share of ‘uh-oh’ moments!). Lots of our colors are in high demand, so sometimes they can go out of stock. It can take 4-8 months (depending on the year) for them to become available again so it’s worth bearing this in mind too.
DO I NEED A FULL WIG OR A TOPPER?
Our full wigs are usually worn by people with alopecia universalis and cancer patients. Toppers work well where there’s partial hair thinning on the top of your head to boost the thickness and volume. We have a whole range of base sizes for toppers, so there’s something to suit everyone.
SHOULD I GO FOR A HUMAN HAIR Wig OR SYNTHETIC HAIR Wig?
Want a beautifully natural finish and to style your hair with heat tools? Human hair is the one for you. You’ll have the power to change your look whenever you want.
Don’t want the trouble of styling and are happy to have one signature style? Synthetic hair sounds like your best bet. More affordable and low maintenance, it keeps its shape even in humidity.
CAN I SLEEP IN MY WIG?
While you’re getting your beauty sleep, we strongly suggest you let your wig or topper do the same. Just take it off before bed to stop your piece from shedding and losing hair. This is because head movement on your pillowcase creates static electricity, causing the knots to come loose and damaging the dreamy full-volume finish.
If you really can’t part with your hairpiece at bedtime though, we suggest wearing an old or synthetic wig and sleeping on a silk pillowcase to reduce static.
CAN I SHOWER OR SWIM IN MY WIG OR TOPPER?
This is a big no no. Excessive heat and power from the shower head are not your hairpiece’s friend. Nor is swimming. Why? Because shower heads can move and open up knots and heated water can change the color of human hair, while swimming in a pool or in the ocean can make your wig dry from the chlorine or salt water. So to keep your hair in tip top condition, don’t drench, dive or dip while wearing.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY WIG?
Keep Remy hair looking its best by storing any of these ways: on a wig block, on a wig tree with paper inside the cape, in a hair net inside the wig box or in a bag (but if you bag it, just be aware that you’ll have to re-style it).
Synthetic hair wigs can’t be stored in a bag because they’re at risk of getting cold-set. This means that the hair bends and creases, damaging the style. The only remedy for a cold-set wig is to steam it with a steam gun and spritz it with plenty of Dimples Fiber Oil Spray. To stop this happening, store synthetic hair properly in a wig box, tree or on a block.
HOW DO I TRANSPORT A SYNTHETIC WIG?
Using the box your wig arrived in is a great for when you’re on-the-go. By packing your wig the same way it came (inside the hair net), it’ll help maintain its enviable style.
CAN MY HUMAN HAIR WIG OR TOPPER BE DYED OR COLORED?
Yes, but we suggest you only tone the color DOWN - please don’t be tempted to bleach your wig! Perming is also off limits. Our human hair wigs have already gone through several levels of processing, so going lighter will make the hair frail and dry. We suggest coloring, cutting and customizing to only be done by licensed hairdressers that have experience coloring/customizing wigs and toppers. Reach out to us or one of our VIP Salon Partners to learn more about customizing your stock human hair wig or topper.
CAN I USE HEAT TOOLS ON MY SYNTHETIC HAIR WIG?
Regular synthetic hair wearers, step away from the heat tools! We repeat, step away. You should also stand clear of hot ovens (a perfect excuse to have time off cooking, right?).
So, if you do NOT see a "High Heat" stamp or any indication if your synthetic wig can handle heat, don't use any heat.
If you have High Heat synthetic hair, feel free to style it up with heat tools (you probably already guessed that though - clue’s in the name!).
Remy hair wearers, you can have fun with heat tools and try out different looks. But you should still take it easy to stop scorching just like you would with natural hair. Avoid using the highest heat levels though and keep it cool to medium to maintain the hair’s natural moisture. But don't forget that you can enjoy beautiful fuss-free beachy waves by just letting it air dry naturally.
What do you recommend for heat settings, if I was to style a HIGH HEAT Synthetic hair wig or topper?
We would recommend anything between 130 and 180 centigrade (260 to 360 Fahrenheit), for the safest levels of heat.
HOW DO I PUT ON MY TOP EXTENSION?
